Price guide

What electrical work costs

Most electricians make you ring round for a callback before you find out what anything costs. Here is how we price, and what the usual jobs come out at, so you can decide in your own time. Every figure on this page is a guide. The fixed price comes once we have seen the job, and it is agreed before any work starts.

How our pricing works

from £80
First hour. That is also the minimum for any visit, and it covers the call-out
£48
Each hour after the first
£48/hr flat
Jobs of five hours or more
No VAT
On domestic jobs

So a one hour job is from £80, two hours is from £128, and a six hour day is about £288 in labour. If you supply the materials it is labour only. If we supply them, materials go on top at cost plus a markup, and we tell you before we buy anything.

There is no separate call-out charge. The first hour covers it.

The jobs people ask about most

from £550

Consumer unit change

A modern board, labelled so the next person can read them, tested before we leave. Send a photo of your current board and we can usually price it from that.

£750 to £1,200

EV charger

Home and business chargers. The spread is about where your board is and how far the cable has to run.

£90 to £150

Extra socket

Depends on surface or flush mounting and how far the power has to come from.

£350 to £600

Downlights, per room

Depends on how many fittings and what is above the ceiling.

£80 to £180

Fault finding

Breakers that keep tripping, dead sockets, lights that flicker. We find it rather than guess at it.

Jobs we can usually price by phone or message

These are priced with the hourly structure above. Tell us the job and how many, and you get a from price without anyone visiting.

Emergencies

During the day, 8am to 5pm, an emergency call-out is the same first hour from £80 then £48 an hour. Out of hours is a higher rate, and we tell you the rate when you ring, before anyone comes out. We are a small family firm rather than a 24 hour callout company, so we will also tell you straight away how soon we can be there.

If you can smell burning, see smoke or sparks, or anyone has had a shock, ring 999 first. Then switch off at the fuse box if it is safe to reach, and ring us on 07840 429873.

Everything on this page is a guide, not a quote. Prices are from prices and the final figure depends on your property and what we find. What we will never do is start work before the price is agreed, or add things to the invoice you did not agree to.
