House rewires in Folkestone and across Kent
A rewire is the one job we will not price down the phone, and we would rather say that plainly than give you a number that changes later. Every house is different: what is under the floors, whether the loft is boarded, how much making good you want doing. Guessing does you no favours.
So the quote visit is free and there is no obligation attached to it. You get a fixed price before anything starts, and that price is what ends up on the invoice.
The quote visit is free and the price is fixed before any work begins.
Full or partial
Not every house that needs work needs everything doing.
- A full rewire replaces every circuit in the house, board included. It is the right answer when the wiring is genuinely at the end of its life, and it is disruptive: floors up, chases in walls, and a house you would rather not be living in for part of it.
- A partial rewire takes the circuits that are actually failing, often the kitchen and upstairs sockets, and leaves the rest. On a lot of houses this is the honest answer and it costs a fraction of the full job.
- Room by room spreads it out. If the kitchen is being done anyway, that is the moment to do the kitchen circuits, and the rest can wait.
Which one you need is what the quote visit is for. We will tell you if a partial will do, because a customer who was not oversold is a customer who rings again.
How to tell it is time
- Rubber, fabric or lead sheathed cable anywhere you can see it, usually in the loft or under the floor. Rubber insulation goes brittle and crumbles off the copper.
- Round pin sockets, or sockets screwed straight to skirting with no back box.
- A fuse box with fuse wire in it.
- No earth at the lighting circuits, which is common in houses wired before the 1960s.
- Sockets that are warm, discoloured, or scorched around the pins.
There is a fuller list in seven signs your electrics need attention, with what each one actually means.
If you can smell burning, see smoke or sparks, or anyone has had a shock, ring 999 first. Then switch it off at the fuse box if you can reach it safely, and ring us on 07840 429873 after that.
How we work round you
Most people are living in the house while it happens, so we work in a way that keeps that possible: one area at a time, power back on at the end of the day wherever it can be, dust sheets down and the mess cleared rather than left.
All completed work is inspected, tested and certificated through a registered contractor we work with, and we provide all the required certificates. Where the work is notifiable, certification and any Building Control notification is part of the job.
Where we work
Based in Folkestone, covering Hythe, Sandgate, Cheriton and Hawkinge every day, and Dover, Deal, Ashford, Canterbury and Romney Marsh when the job makes the trip worthwhile. On a CT or TN postcode and not sure? Ask.
