EV charger installation in Folkestone and across Kent
A home charger turns overnight into a full battery and takes the public network out of your week. Most installs come in from £750, and the majority land between £750 and £1,200 fitted.
What decides where you sit in that range is almost always the same thing: how far the charger is from your consumer unit, and what is in the way. A charger on the garage wall next to the board is the cheap end. One at the far side of the house with a driveway to cross is the other end.
The spread is where your board is and how far the cable has to run.
What is included
- A free survey before anything is quoted, because nobody should price this blind.
- A 7kW unit, which is what almost every home install wants. It is the fastest speed a normal single phase supply will carry.
- The cable run, the isolation, and any board work the charger needs to sit behind.
- The DNO notification. Your network operator has to be told a charger has gone in, and that is our job rather than yours.
- All completed work is inspected, tested and certificated through a registered contractor we work with, and we provide all the required certificates.
Questions worth answering before you book
- Where does the car actually park? Not where you would like it to park. The cable has to reach the socket on the car.
- Where is your consumer unit? Under the stairs is common and usually fine. In a garage at the opposite end of the house is what pushes the price.
- Is there anything to cross? A driveway, a path, a flower bed. Crossing them is normal, it just takes longer.
- Is your board up to it? Sometimes a charger is the thing that shows up a board that was already due. If that is the case you will hear it before you commit.
Business and workplace chargers
Same work, more of it. If you are putting chargers in for staff, customers or a fleet, the questions are load across the site and how many units the incoming supply will carry at once. That needs a look rather than a phone quote, and the survey is still free.
